AIIMS New Delhi Patient Guide

AIIMS New Delhi patients often have to complete more than one step. An online appointment, a hospital patient record, a UHID, a follow-up instruction and a laboratory report are related, but they are not the same thing. This guide helps you understand which process applies before you use an official service or travel to the hospital.

AIIMS OPD Guide is an independent information website. It does not book appointments, manage hospital records or collect patient identifiers.

Start with the task you need to complete

Get an OPD appointment

Read the AIIMS Delhi online appointment guide if you are trying to understand online booking, new-patient and follow-up routes, appointment confirmation or what to do when no slot appears.

Understand OPD registration

Read the AIIMS Delhi OPD registration guide if you need to understand how the patient record, UHID and hospital-side registration fit into the visit.

Check OPD timings and schedules

Use the AIIMS Delhi OPD timings guide to separate booking hours, registration windows and consultation periods. Its Schedule Finder shows only scoped records with official sources and verification dates.

Find a department or centre

Use the AIIMS Delhi departments and centres directory when an appointment, referral or prescription already names a service and you need to identify its published building or floor.

Understand or reuse a UHID

Read the AIIMS UHID guide if the patient already has an AIIMS record, is returning for follow-up or is unsure how UHID differs from ABHA.

Access an investigation report

Read the AIIMS Delhi lab reports guide before trying different portals or contacting an unrelated department. Report availability and missing-report help can depend on the laboratory or service that performed the investigation.

Prepare for the hospital visit

Read the first-visit guide after understanding the appointment or registration route. It covers confirmation, existing records, department instructions and the steps that may still remain at the hospital.

Find the correct telephone service

Read the AIIMS Delhi helplines guide to distinguish appointment-booking numbers from emergency contacts. One telephone number should not be treated as the answer to every patient task.

Resolve an appointment problem

Use appointment help for OTP, slip, status and patient-record problems. If the correct department shows no date, read the no appointment slots guide before assuming the website is broken or paying an agent.

Understand referral, fees and documents

Read the specialty clinic and referral guide before relying on an afternoon-clinic schedule. Use the fees and documents guide to distinguish the published OPD-card charge from variable investigations and to prepare the correct patient file.

New, existing and follow-up patients

Your patient situation matters because official services may present different routes.

Patient situationWhat it means for this guideStart here
New patientThe patient does not already have the relevant AIIMS New Delhi hospital record or UHIDAppointment and registration guides
Existing patientThe patient already has an AIIMS record or UHIDUHID guide, then the relevant task guide
Follow-up patientA department has asked the patient to return after an earlier consultationUHID and follow-up guidance, plus the department's instruction

Do not create a new route merely because an existing record is temporarily difficult to use. First check the official follow-up or UHID pathway and preserve continuity with the earlier hospital record where applicable.

How the patient journey fits together

1. Confirm the institution

These pages cover AIIMS New Delhi. Another AIIMS institution may use different contacts, departments, portals or hospital-side steps. Future institutions will be added only after their processes are independently verified.

2. Identify the patient status

Decide whether the patient is new, existing or returning for follow-up. If you are not sure, look for an earlier UHID, OPD card or department instruction before beginning a new-patient process.

3. Understand the appointment route

AIIMS New Delhi directs online OPD appointment users to the official ORS service. ORS describes a process involving hospital and department selection, available-slot selection, patient details, OTP verification and appointment-slip generation. Existing or follow-up patients may see a separate UHID-based route.

4. Keep the confirmation and earlier records

Save the confirmation or acknowledgement produced by the official service. If the patient already has an AIIMS record, keep the earlier UHID or OPD information available. This website does not need or accept those details.

5. Prepare for hospital-side steps

An online confirmation does not mean that every step of the hospital visit is complete. Read the first-visit and registration guidance, then follow any more specific instruction issued by the relevant centre or department.

Important limits to general guidance

AIIMS New Delhi includes centres, departments and services with their own requirements. A referral rule, counter location, report route or schedule shown by one department cannot automatically be applied across the institution.

The same caution applies to older online instructions. AIIMS has stated that an older mobile app was removed from Google Play because it was non-functional. Current verified services should take priority over legacy app, IVRS or Aadhaar-only instructions found in old PDFs or third-party articles.

What this Delhi section will not do

  • It will not request Aadhaar, ABHA, UHID, OTP, appointment IDs or medical records.
  • It will not promise an appointment or claim access to hidden slots.
  • It will not select a department from symptoms.
  • It will not interpret a report.
  • It will not turn one department's rule into an AIIMS-wide rule.
  • It will not copy Delhi instructions onto another AIIMS institution.

Sources and review

This hub is based on current AIIMS New Delhi patient-service pages and the Government of India ORS service reviewed on 23 September 2026. Operational details are explained on the relevant task page, where the applicable official destination and source scope are shown after the guidance.
